During the harvest of 1524 a small peasant revolt that had broken out in the town of Stühlingen - on the southern edege of the Black Forest close to the Swiss border - triggers a series of insurrections that spread across most of south western Germany and Alsace, into central and eastern areas of Germany, parts of Austria, and northern Switzerland. By the end of March 1525 the peasants - meeting in Memmingham on the modern day Baden-Württemberg/Bavaria border - organise themselves into the Christian Association and issue their 'Twelve Articles'...
